What is hygge?

HYGGE what?

Hygge, pronouced "HOO-GAH", is a Danish word that means coziness. It is a feeling more than a word. It is the ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures and making the ordinary more meaningful, beautiful and special.

(n.) A calm, comfortable time with people you love. A complete absence of frustrations, or anything emotionally overwhelming, often enjoyed with good food and drinks, warm blankets and candlelight.

Here at Rustic Refined RePete, we are bringing hygge into your home.

We believe there is simply nothing better than arriving home after a hard day's work, slipping into something comfortable, lighting candles, and cooking dinner while listening to music.

"...slow down, unplug, and simply enjoy..."

"...magical..."

There is something magical about lighting a candle. A space can feel so empty, barren, and lifeless until you fill it with candlelight - a warmth washes over the entire room, and invites you to stay and unwind.

"...unexpected and enticing..."

We carefully chose each scent in our hygge collection to compliment your home year-round.  They are comfortable fragrances that are familiar, yet unexpected and enticing.

Are you ready to try hygge?

Here's some really great options to try this week:

-Cook dinner, turn on music, & eat by candlelight

-Treat yourself to fresh cut flowers or find a plant to add some greenery to your home

-Enjoy a screen-free evening with board games or reading a good book

-Load the sofa up with your coziest blankets, and put on your family's favorite movie. Don't forget the hot cocoa!

-Spend time outside. Ground yourself by heading to a local park or hiking trail, and just enjoy being outside. Or if you are anything like my husband, go sit in a tree stand for a few hours. It does wonders.
